I am a graphic designer / animator / Flash / AfterEffects / Premier / HTML-er / CSS-er / ActionScript-er with 15+ years of experience in creating and developing visual identities, presentations, websites, and marketing campaigns for a wide range of clients. I have demonstrated skills as a team leader, creative / art director, artist, senior writer, and account manager. I possess a broad-based knowledge of computer technologies including ActionScript, CSS, PHP, XML, javascript, publishing software, multimedia software, internet technologies, and a keen understanding of the print design process.

2001 - Present (contract work)

Contract Designer

CMD / Via Training / JohnsonSheen / Wieden+Kennedy / Staccato Design / Shepherd Interactive / Steelhead Communications / Bodie Design Group / etc.

Since moving to Portland, I have done contract work for many design companies. Projects have included Flash development and design, Motion Graphics and video, website development and design (CSS, DHTML, etc), logo / branding concept and design, writing, composing and recording professional, original sound tracks for in-house and large-client presentations (including Microsoft and Hewlitt-Packard). Some of my international projects have represented Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Canon, and Avon, Cisco, Freightliner, Quiznos, among many others.

2005 - 2006

Art Director / Senior Designer

Lucid Blend Interactive Studios

Responsibilities at Lucid Blend have included designing and creating multimedia 3-to-6-minute Flash presentations predominantly for web deployment. The process involves working with a scripted storyboard, producing voice-over talent, selecting and acquiring background music and then designing animating the presentation (e.g. Flash, Photoshop, FreeHand, Illustrator). The presentations are then displayed in a common Flash “player” and driven dynamically with an external XML file. Other projects at Lucid Blend are website design / architecture / construction -- wholly embracing CSS. My current commitment to Lucid Blend is as a contractor.

2004 - 2009

Owner

The Loud Lounge

The Loud Lounge, LLC, was started as my own company to service creative companies and local musicians. The Loud Lounge writes, produces, and records jingles and soundtracks for radio and tv commercials. My clients have included PGE, The Oregon State Fair, Oregon State University Football Program, Sapient, Hewlitt-Packard, Microsoft, Wieden+Kennedy, JohnsonSheen, and several local companies (e.g. Pizza Scmizza, Comcast, and coffee shops). In addition to recording, I also create and develop high-end Flash animation websites for regional musicians and recording studios, as well as design and manage their print collateral (CD design, press kits, posters, etc).

1998 - 2004

Creative Director

MYBv, LLC

MYBv was a spin-off company based upon a business model for Make Your Bet Vacations. After designing and developing a 10,000+ page website for an Austin-based travel agency, I was responsible for spinning the concept into a new business venture. I spearheaded the accomplishment of branding a single database-driven website into a unique internet presence for brick and mortar agencies across the nation. The branded and templated websites empowered small agencies to compete in a much larger arena. Each website had its own URL, corresponding email support, and a suite of robust back-end administration tools which allowed for complete site customization.

1996 - 1999

Creative Director / Art Director / Senior Designer

Applied Science Fiction

I designed visual identity including logo and design guidelines / usage standards for ingredient brand. Managed in-house and out-of-house design teams for marketing communications projects, including executive and sales presentations, the corporate website, and collateral. I also designed and rendered CAD-model visualizations of future products for use in business development. I managed the production of all corporate materials. As the 10th employee at Applied Science Fiction, I was fundamental in establishing the company as one of the leaders in the high-tech market of digital imaging. The company raised over $30M in its second round of financing. Eventually, the technology company was purchased by Kodak.

Bachelor’s Degree, University of Kansas (go Jayhawks!)
